Glen Moray 12yo Elgin

The flagship Glen Moray from the distillery's age statement Elgin Heritage range. Unlike many of their releases, there is no finish or unusual casks used here, instead this 12 year old is aged exclusively in American oak casks. A pleasing and affordable Speyside single malt.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Crisp green apple skin, rhubarb boiled sweets, buttery shortbread, with subtly herbaceous oak developing.

Palate Chewy barley with a drizzle of syrup, a touch of apricot and crushed honey-roasted nuts.

Finish White chocolate and oak.

Reviews for Glen Moray 12 Year Old - Elgin Heritage
Glen Moray
It is a very average Whisky, with little substance to deserve a high rating.

love the quality-price ratio
As a noob I compared this to Chivas Regal 12 which is almost the same price in my country, this made chivas smell and taste like jet fuel.
I loved this one!

Nice budget Speyside
Typical Speyside, reminds me of Benriach, maybe Glencadam. Vanilla, heather, syrup, apple, touch of oak on the nose. Palate is simpler: vanille, white chocolate, spiciness. First pour was smooth. Quickly becomes harsh under the influence of oxygen. Definitely less tasty now bottle is at 2/3rds. Would have been tastier at 46%, but then again probably wouldn't have added it to my order with a 15% bump in price.

A best buy
My first taste of Glen Moray was a very nice surprise at a very good price.
Sweetness with a variety of flavors throughout, and smooth enough to enjoy without ice and holds up nicely with ice. Either way I liked this 12-year old!

Great taste
No professional review here, just a scotch lover saying that this will be in my cabinet as a staple from here on out.

One of my favorites
I got a bunch of cheap non-smoky single malts, and this stood out. Great honey, a bit of complexity, stood up to some ice beautifully, good depth of malty graininess. Their notes are spot on.

Quality but harsh
Tasting notes bang on. Quality oaky flavour with sweet mid. A little harsh though. I never have Ice or water with a malt but I found myself having ice with my second glass. Prefer spring bank

Top notch
The gold award says it all. This is a very good whisky and not too expensive either. Plenty going on without relying on peat or smoke flavours. Easy to drink yet full of flavour. Nice vanilla, fruitiness and a hint of saltiness.

Sweet, Mature, Low Price
Really good, sweet taste, and a fully matured scotch. I do not detect any raw whiskey, which is more than I can say for some scotch NAS blends costing almost double. Right now this is the best value whiskey in this part of the US. 35$, better than any scotch at that price point here. I compare it taste wise to Irish Whiskies like Jameson’s black barrel, but this is 7$ cheaper. Obviously not peated or complex like Ardbeg(which is great) but almost 20$ cheaper. If you like easy drinking, sweet tasty whiskey, this should do it.
