Overview

A seaside retreat overlooking the glorious south Cornwall coast, Blue Bay is the perfect retreat for couples and families, including your pampered pooch. A beautiful home cleverly designed to make the most of the stunning views from the upstairs living area. Coastal hues and local artists’ work add to the seaside theme, creating a welcoming space to slip into a slower pace of life.

Large sliding doors invite you to step outside onto your private balcony and take in the views towards one of Cornwall’s most iconic landmarks. And on cooler nights you can get cosy in front of the flickering wood burner with your beloved dog curled up at your feet.

Tranquil bedrooms provide a restful retreat after long days at the beach and lazy lie-ins are encouraged with access to a small patio where you can slowly ease into the day with a quiet breakfast and the morning sun.

Beautiful harbours, sandy beaches and traditional Cornish villages can be found in abundance along the south coast, all just a short drive from Blue Bay. Marazion’s sandy beach is a favourite for watersport enthusiasts and of course a stay in Marazion wouldn’t be complete without visiting St Michael’s Mount, where a granite causeway is exposed at low tide leading to the foot of the castle where a magical day will be had by all.

Welcome to Marazion

Something about Marazion reminds us of a fairytale. With the enchanting sight of St Michaels Mount looming high above the sea and two shimmering sandy beaches, Marazion holidays are the ultimate escape from it all. The oldest town in Cornwall, this is a place of myth and legend, where ancient cottages perch on hillsides and the sound of laughter drifts from friendly pubs. The streets of the town favour quirky boutiques over chains, and the cafes don’t disappoint when it comes to fresh, local produce and hearty portions.

Stunning View
4.7/5

Lovely place to spend a few days chilling out . Amazing view of St Michael’s Mount from balcony. The apartment was very well equipped had everything you could need & owner had left a bottle of Prosecco, scones, biscuits, milk & coffee to welcome us…which was much appreciated. The only issue was not sure about the green to the left neighbour told me off for taking the dog on there only used it first thing in the morning for her to have a wee but he said it was private property I think just didn’t like his privacy being invaded! So would be good to make it clear where dogs can go.

Room with a View
5/5

Lovely little upside down cottage with an amazing view across Mounts Bay to St Michaels Mount. We loved watching how it changed with the weather. We also loved the wood burning stove which made our stay so cosy. The cottage was very comfortable and well stocked with everything you could need during your holiday. More than that, it has been decorated with such care that it really felt like a home from home. We appreciated the little extras; fizz in the fridge, a cream tea waiting. The cottage is on the edge of Marazion, but it's a manageable 10/15 mins walk to the centre of the village. I'd like to add a special mention to Penn Boyle Ceramics which is nearly opposite the entrance to the cottages. Penn makes beautiful handmade things and sells them direct from her workshop. Well worth visiting for a chat and a browse.

As veteran renters of holiday accommodation all over the UK, Blue Bay has a lot going for it.
3.8/5

Blue Bay, possibly a purpose built holiday maisonette, is in an elevated location just outside Marazion with good views over St Michael's Mount as well as the surrounding agricultural land. It has all the essential amenities and is certainly a comfortable accommodation for a week's holiday. Location is very convenient for main routes to all of S.West Cornwall and there is a good choice of supermarkets within 3 miles. there are also easy footpath links to the S.West Coastal Path and access to quiet coves. Marked it down slightly due to: We visited during a very cold spell in December 2022 and thus needed the heating; the associated hot water system had seemingly been switched off or otherwise the programmed times were not convenient and control systems were not intuitive to sort out. Even when we finally mastered it, hot water rarely made it to the upstairs kitchen. The heating and hot water settings, as well as the heated towel room for the bathroom, should have been checked and set up ready for guests. Lastly, the maisonette is part of a large block of similar accommodation and we got the impression that they were not exactly stoutly built as we could easily hear our near neighbours. Also, the 1st floor balconies are all close to and overlook each other, consequently would be noisy and lack privacy during busy periods.
