Plymouth Navy Strength

A Navy Strength variation of Plymouth Gin, bottled up at a hefty 57% ABV. In fact, this gin was supplied to the Royal Navy for nearly 200 years! It features a classic combination of botanicals, including the likes of juniper, orange peel, lemon peel, green cardamom, coriander, angelica and orris, resulting in a complex but not overpowering flavour profile. Particularly handy for cocktails, this stuff.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Rosemary and lavender, hints of pine resin, zest and juniper.

Palate Lavender and juniper on the palate, huge citrus zest notes, a little coriander seed.

Finish Wood resin, hints of caraway seeds and citrus.

Reviews for Plymouth Navy Strength
Lovely
Superb gin, despite its alcohol strength it's very easy drinking and very smooth. Will need to buy more soon!
I drink it with a large chunk of ice and fever tree tonic, nothing else.

Gin of the proper strength.
I enjoy this, usually in a gin and tonic. in my view a good gin and tonic should be cold, sparkling and reasonably alcoholic.
Use of extra strength gin means that less is required, and the mixed gin and tonic is better/more sparkling.
The gin is often at room temperature, and use of a smaller volume volume of extra strength gin results in a colder mixture, presuming that the tonic is kept in the fridge.

For a change, try it mixed with the semi frozen "slush" drinks marked for children, and seldom consumed by adults, but nice with gin.

In a World of young pretenders to the Crown. Navy-strength is still and always be, King.
Navy Strength is in my opinion, the Quintessential Gin. It is perfect, and is my 'benchmark' when we are running Gin-tasting evenings at my club.
On my evenings, I work on the basis that there are 3 main types of Gin: Standards, Character (encompassing all of the various fashionable gins with their plethora of flavours) and finally, the category that I reserve for the very best, including Navy Strength - Stand-alone Gins.
These Gins , and there are not many of them, have the complexity of flavours and notes that put them in the same class as a fine Cognac or a favourite Malt Whisky. A drink that can be drunk neat, normally as a night-cap, with just an ice-cube to get it down to the right temperature.

One of the finest Navy strengths around.
Absolutely beautiful. I think this is one of the finest navy strength gins around. You find that the gin lasts a bit longer because a smaller measure is required in the highball glass with a high end tonic and a slice of citrus fruit.
