Gwrych Castle was built in the early 1800s and belonged to the Bamford Hesketh family until the mid 1900s. After the family left, the castle was used for a number of different purposes until it was closed down in the 1980s. After several attempts to resurrect the castle it was purchased in 2018 by the Gwyrch Castle Preservation Trust who hope to build a sustainable future for the castle.
Old Colwyn Beach is found in Colwyn Bay and it has a lot to offer its visitors. The beach itself is glorious, a long stretch of golden sands that is backed by a promenade. Car parking is great, just up from the beach, and the promenade offers plenty of seating and eating opportunities. Dog walkers will love it here as well, as the beach is 100% dog friendly. This means your canine friends can enjoy the beach at any time of day or year.
Found on the coast of North Wales, within the grounds of Gwrych Castle, is the lovely Abergele Golf Club. You will find the course just a little way west of the town from which it takes its name, so you should make sure to pay a visit to the club after you’ve enjoyed the many pleasures of Abergele itself.
