Mayflower Court, situated in an admirable position, a few steps from the waterfront and with outstanding views over Dartmouth harbour is conveniently located to enjoy the delights of this historic town. The apartments are situated on the river embankment, a pleasant and relaxing promenade to stroll along to admire the sights of the busy estuary or to select from the many boat trips that depart from the water’s edge. Dartmouth brims with an array of bistros, restaurants, boutiques and specialist shops that line its narrow streets with long flights of winding steps and intriguing medieval buildings. The apartments are within an easy level walk of the town centre.  Mayflower Court properties offer 25% discount at Dartmouth Golf and Country Club on green fees and daily leisure club fees.

Apartment 1C is a contemporary, warm and comfortable first floor apartment boasting stunning views over the harbour! It is bright and airy and has been equipped to a very high standard with a contemporary combination of comfortable and stylish furniture and fittings.  A delightful welcome pack is also provided, including fresh flowers and cake.

Hallway with coat hooks and shoe cupboard.

Spacious, split level living/dining room with fantastic views over the River Dart through large picture windows, 2 comfortable leather sofas, flat screen Smart TV with DVD and recordable Humax box (works similar to a Sky+ box), stereo radio/CD and light oak dining table to seat 4.

The kitchen, that has access to the fire escape at the rear, is well equipped with an induction hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer.

Master bedroom with fitted wardrobes, 5ft king size bed, Smart TV and lovely views over the river.

Bedroom two with two 3ft beds.

Bathroom with bath, separate shower, pedestal hand basin and WC.

Cloakroom with basin and WC.

Steeped in maritime history, Dartmouth lies at the mouth of the majestic River Dart. This bustling waterfront town is overlooked by the famous and somewhat imposing Britannia Royal Naval College, just one hint at the town’s historic and strategic importance. Look around and you’ll notice old fortifications on both sides of the river. Bayards Cove Fort, dating from Tudor times is easy to access just a short stroll from the shops, or you can take the passenger ferry up to Dartmouth Castle, which has guarded the narrow entrance to the port for over 600 years, and then walk along the stunning South West Coast Path towards Stoke Fleming and Strete.

Central to Dartmouth is the “boat float”. From here, take time to explore the picturesque network of streets and alleys with their abundance of independent shops, cafés and restaurants. For art lovers, there are numerous galleries and you may even spot the famous artist, Simon Drew, at work. For a hearty brunch, see if you can squeeze onto a shared table in the bustling Café Alf Resco or for a more continental feel, sample the delights of Saveurs French bakery.

Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or a total novice, a simple must for every visitor is to take to the water. Sailing, kayaking or hopping on a passenger ferry to nearby Totnes, Dittisham or Greenway (once a home of Agatha Christie) will allow you to enjoy this truly idyllic stretch of river. Keep an eye out for wildlife on the way as you may be lucky enough to be accompanied by a friendly seal!

If you’re looking for a day out on the beach, drive along the truly breathtaking coast road to nearby Blackpool Sands (no dogs in high season) and on to Torcross at Slapton Sands, a three and a half mile stretch of beach with a neighbouring freshwater nature reserve, Slapton Ley, which is a haven for bird watchers.

From Dartmouth, you can cross the water to neighbouring Kingswear to walk the Dart Valley Trail towards Greenway, catch the steam railway or take the higher car ferry across for a family day out at Paignton Zoo or Torquay's Living Coasts.

Dartmouth itself literally heaves at the seams during Dartmouth Regatta in late August, but there is also plenty to keep you entertained throughout the rest of the year. And if you prefer simple pleasures, the embankment provides the perfect spot for crabbing. All you need is a bucket, line, net and some bait and it won’t be long before you hear squeals of delight from the whole family!

Picturesque Dartmouth is the ideal holiday cottage location for couples or families looking to enjoy all this lovely coastal town has to offer as soon as they walk out their front door.

Private parking on site for one car only.

  • Included: Bed linen, towels, baths mats, Wi-Fi, tea towels, central heating (gas) and electricity.
  • Telephone: No telephone. Mobile reception good.
  • Local Facilities: Beach at Blackpool Sands 3 miles. Shops, pubs, restaurants and the river embankment a minute’s stroll. Dartmouth Golf and Country Club 4 miles.

March 2018

We were a party of eight visiting for an evening meal . We booked beforehand and were greeted immediately upon arrival and shown to our table upstairs . The waitress was pleasant and the restaurant was clean, fresh and had a warm friendly atmosphere . We are a picky bunch , but nothing was too much trouble and our waitress ran backwards and forwards to relay information from the kitchen to us . Having made decisions , and ordered we didn't have to wait long . The food arrived quickly , was hot , well presented , and plenty of it . Our waitress checked on us regularly . The food was tasty , fresh and filling , we had steaks , fish pies , pork , fish and chips , a good selection and everyone was happy . We would definitely eat here again . We loved the furnishings , especially the amazing dragons, one of our party was a seven year old little girl who thoroughly enjoyed going on a dragon hunt .

We used the Picnic Boat in 2017 - and absolutley loved it. However - please be aware that it has since sadly gone out of business (as has Kevin's excellent shop/cafe in the market, Dart to Mouth) - so probably best to remove this from your website

Blackpool Sands
Blackpool Sands
(3 miles)

(35)

Between Dartmouth and Slapton, Blackpool Sands is a beautiful shingle bay on the South West Coast Path, surrounded by evergreens and pine trees. It really is a treasure of a beach to visit while you’re in the area. Award-winning, the privately owned, blue flag beach boasts a sense of being in the Mediterranean on a good day in the summer, although a good jumper never goes amiss in this part of the world! You will no doubt not be surprised to hear that it is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, however it also boasts ample facilities and things to do. There are showers, toilets and disabled facilities, as well as paddle board, kayak and wetsuit hire available for those wishing to earn their visit to The Venus Beach Café, where light bites and refreshments are served. The Venus Shop also sells all the bits and pieces you might want for fun and games on the beach if you have forgotten them or are in need of extra buckets and spades. The water at Blackpool Sands is known for being clean and clear and tested by the Environment Agency, and lifeguards are on hand in the summer (July to September) so there’s every reason to pop in for a dip. However, dogs are not allowed on the beach in the high season (12th March to 30th October) so keep the walking for the cooler months. There is parking available at the beach with seasonal charges, and you can find out more information on those from the Blackpool Sands information line on 01803 771800. This beach is easy to get to and quite literally fun and games for the whole family, as well as a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year to take in the view!

July 2023

Looks a lovely beach but unfortunately no dogs allowed at all

June 2023

Visited Blackpool sands on our honeymoon 27 years ago and have enjoyed it on both occasions. A lovely clean beach with a very nice restaurant/cafe. We walked to the beach and got the local bus back up to Stoke Fleming.

May 2023

we love this beach always clean good parking clean facilities and good cafe.

September 2022

We did go to this beach, couldn’t go in the sea as it was so rough, was beautiful though. No sand, but still very nice.

September 2022

Beautiful beach; very blue water. It’s more a pebbly rather than a sandy beach, love it all the same. It’s clean and there are lifeguards in the summer months which is when we visited. The toilets were clean and not far from the beach; no queues for the toilet either. Parking can be a bit pricey at £9 for the whole day of you come in the morning but didn’t mind it. You pay less though if you come in the afternoon. The is a little sandpit area for a any kids who want to play in sand

September 2022

It is a really beautiful beach although, despite its name, it is not a sandy beach, however our son and grandson were keen on paddle boarding. They made a special visit for this and were told that the paddleboard facilities were closed but to come the following day when the facilities were still closed! Considering that this was during the height of the holiday season, my son was a bit put out having made two wasted trips.

August 2022

A lovely beach, stunning veiw as you drive down towards it. Very clean with clear water.

August 2022

Lovely clean beach although very quiet. There was a small charge for parking.

April 2022

November 2021

very clean beach and gorgeous setting. good that it didn't allow dogs.

September 2021

Welcoming, clean attractive

September 2021

No sand! Very clean and scenic, but very disappointing if you want to run around on sand

August 2021

Lovely pretty beach with good facilities.

June 2021

Very large shingle beach, charges for parking at a set fee no matter how long your visit. Can pay by card for parking as well as cash.

May 2021

Great beach

November 2020

Lovely sandy beach. Parked here (£2) whilst doing a circular walk and then returned for a walk along the beach.

November 2020

Dogs allowed on beach out of season, a bracing walk with coffee and millionaire shortbread at the cafe to finish.

October 2020

Great beach really beautiful , even in the rain, as the Venus café is right on the beach and is warm, dry and serves great food and drinks at reasonable prices.

October 2019

One of our favourite beaches, in a beautiful setting. Plenty of car parking and plenty of room on the beach, even on a busy day. The sea is clean and clear and the facilities are excellent (nice to have changing rooms). Thoroughly recommend this beach.

October 2019

Beautiful stretch of shingle beach nestled between steep hills at either end. Excellent facilities including one of the best beach cafes we've ever visited.

September 2019

We had a wonderful day at Blackpool sands. A shingle beach within a lovely cove, it was clean and felt safe for the children to swim in the water (which was also sparkling). The beach is privately run, so the carpark fee was a bit stiff (£8 for the day), however the upside of this was a beautifully clean beach with lots of amenities, including rental of SUPs and other water equipment, a great cafe, and really clean loos. On a busy day you would need to arrive before lunchtime, or the carpark will shut, but this also means that the beach didn't feel crowded at all.

September 2019

Parking charge between £3 - £8 depending on time of year, Also food good but e.g. Hawaiian Prawns (£9) consisted of 5 prawns. Not good value for money.

October 2018

Lovely beach, not sandy but the stones are okay. Good food, beverages, coast guards, Nice view and not so cowded

August 2018

Lovely clean beach in super location along coastal road. Great place to visit.

May 2018

Beautiful clean beach with excellent facilities.Clean toilets lovely cafe and shop.Lifeguard on the beach. No dogs allowed.Plenty of parking. We enjoyed rock pooling at the far end of the beach. The owner does a great job.You can also visit Blackpool Sands garden but we did not have time. Also a juggler was there on the day we went great fun for everyone.

August 2017

Beautiful location but shame it a shingle beach and not sandy. Also very disappointed with the £8 fee to park the car .

August 2017

Perfect venue for a sunny day! Secluded beach which is clean and tidy, with a cafe, snack bar and shop, beach equipment hire too

July 2017

The cost of the parking steep

June 2017

Elberry Cove
(4 miles)

(1)

Far from the bustling crowds of Paignton and Brixham’s bigger beaches, this small pebbly cove is a truly relaxing spot. The calm waters are great for swimming and are said to have been one of Agatha Christie’s favourite bathing spots. Elberry Cove even features in one of her crime thriller novels, The ABC Murders. This picture-perfect cove, surrounded by sloping wooded hillsides and crystal clear water, can only be accessed by the coast path, with the nearest carpark at Broadsands Beach. From here, it is only a 10 - 15 minute walk, but make sure to pack a picnic or grab a bite to eat at Broadsands Beach before you set off, as there aren’t any facilities at here. Dogs are welcome on the beach throughout the year.

Lovely quieter beach, dog and BBQ friendly. We had teens that hired kayaks from nearby Broadsands beach and paddled around the coast to meet us. Very accomodating kayak hire and not too expensive.

August 2018

Broadsands Beach
(4 miles)

In between Brixham and Paignton, this long, sandy beach is a popular spot with families, thanks to its sheltered waters, year-round facilities and easy parking. The Blue Flag beach is perfect for making sandcastles and searching for wildlife in the rockpools. There are toilets, and two places to get ice creams, coffees and soft drinks. What’s more, the car park is right by the beach, so there’s no need to lug your provisions a long way. Behind the pretty row of colourful beach huts, there’s a large grassy area, so don’t forget to pack a ball or rounders bat to keep the whole family entertained. Broadsands Beach is a popular dog walking spot throughout autumn and winter, but there is a seasonal dog ban during the summer months (1st May - 30th September).

St Mary's Bay
(4 miles)

The decent to St Mary’s Bay is one of the best views in Brixham, with panoramic views of the English Riviera. This beautiful, unspoilt beach has a carpark nearby, but we recommend walking there to make the most of the stunning surroundings. The sandy and shingle beach is sheltered by steep cliffs on either side, which means the decent to the beach isn’t easy, especially for those with mobility disabilities. There are no facilities at the beach, but visitors can take the coast path north to Berry Head Nature Reserve, where there is a great café and toilets, as well as stunning coastal views. Dogs are welcome all year, making St Mary’s Bay a great place to take a well-earned rest on your dog walk.

Churston Cove
(5 miles)

If you’re willing to venture off the beaten track, you’ll discover one of Brixham’s hidden gems, Churston Cove. Surrounded by sloping wooded hillsides, this beautiful little cove isn’t the easiest to get to, which makes it an idyllic, peaceful place to while away the day. The crystal clear water is safe for kids to paddle and play in, and is a popular swimming spot. Parking is available at Freshwater carpark, a 15-minute walk away. There are no toilet facilities or cafes, and the beach is accessed via a long, steep path, which is uneven in places, but this beautiful little cove is worth the effort. Churston Cove is dog-friendly all year round.

Lovely stay

March 2023

We had a great week walking in the area; even the dismal weather forecast was wrong, with lots of sunshine! We have spent holidays in Dartmouth many times for well over 50 years and whilst the town has inevitably changed in many ways, the surroundings can never change. It is a beautiful area.

October 2022

No

August 2022

Great location Car spaces pretty tight sadly so creates some anxiety!

August 2022

We always enjoy our stay in 1C Mayflower Court

May 2022

Enjoyed our stay very much. Had some delicious fish meals at The Anchorstone, The Rock, Floating Bridge and very good afternoon tea at The Harbour Hotel, Salcombe. Also enjoyable visits to Coleton Fishacre and Overbecks and trip up the River Dart by ferry to Dittisham. Like the,pop up bar outside The Dart Marine Hotel for a coffee or early evening aperitif.

October 2021

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

August 2021

We had a wonderful week. The bed was exceptionally comfy, the view from the living room superb, and the kitchen & bathroom excellent. There is so much to do in and around Dartmouth & it was lovely to be able to leave the car & experience the diverse types of public transport available.

June 2021

The apartment was comfortable and excellently equipped, with amazing views. Wi-fi and Smart TV were appreciated, and location was perfect. Everything was of a high standard.

April 2021

a good week spoilt by poor bedrooms , narrow mattresses in large bedroom , light curtains in small bedroom

April 2021

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The flat has a great location, was very clean and lovely to walk into, with the beautiful river view. Great service from Toad Hall to find us a late post-lockdown break. Only disappointing feature was having 2 single mattresses on a double bed base (without even a mattress topper or double bedding to make more comfortable).

We are delighted to see you had such a lovely stay at this popular property. Thank you for the feedback which we will pass onto the property owner.

- The Toad Hall Team

We are pleased to say that the owners have confirmed that there is now a king size mattress topper in place!

January 2021

Yes fery much. Second visit to the property and 3 already booked for next xmas

October 2020

A very welcome break as key workers - total relaxation. Lovely apartment in a superb location - wonderful views despite the weather. Enjoyed days at Paignton Zoo, walk to Dartmouth Castle, The Steam Train and shopping in Dartmouth. Great meal at The Rockfish and breakfast at The Madhatters. Thank you for the flowers and cake.

October 2020

Enjoyed stay very much, will hopefully return.

October 2020

What can we add to all previous 'spot on' comments. Flat excellently fitted out, bright, cheery, clean, welcome pack and flowers/card very welcome. Thank you for a super week!

October 2020

Our 1st visit here. Most impressed. Lovely flat and very well equipped. Magnificent view from the lounge. So interesting, something always going on on the water. Great location - will recommend to our family and friends and hopefully will return in the future. The welcome pack a nice touch - thank you! Had a lovely time.

September 2020

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but the over door needed repairing as it was nearly falling off. We reported it to Toad Hall Offices and hoped that it would be repaired before your next guests arrived.

September 2020

We have had a fantastic week in Dartmouth and the weather has been good. A really welcome break after lockdown. The flat is excellent and so well equipped. Looking forward to our next visit.

August 2020

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and it was a joy to escape

March 2020

Everything was great. On last day visitors arrived upstairs and just their moving around was noisy. Just the way the flats were built

February 2020

A pleasant and comfortable stay.

December 2019

Always a pleasure to stay at 1c Mayflower Court. Heating system timing programme hard to understand

October 2019

Beautiful views from the lounge and along the promenade. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. One of our best self catering holidays.

October 2019

Left day early as the weather forecast for the Saturday journey was dire. Very well equipped flat, we know Dartmouth well. Would happily stay their again.

October 2019

We enjoyed our stay very much. The weather was unsettled but we managed to dodge the heavy showers and make the most of the sun.

May 2019

We will hopefully book the same property next year.

April 2019

Wonderful welcome,Wonderful weather,Wonderful week

March 2019

Excellent location,well furnished apartment

February 2019

Wonderfull view. This apartment has everything you need and more, even implements to hold your corn on the cob. The only thing I would bring are bath towels as the ones provided though very nice are not that large, this is not a criticism just helpful advice.

January 2019

We love this little flat and were very pleased with the large fridge freezer and the amount of mugs, glasses etc.

December 2018

yes, very clean and tidy holiday home in good position

August 2018

We had an excellent week at 1C Mayflower Court. The apartment was very well appointed and the view from the living room was superb - as per descriptions had inferred. Perhaps not the best for people with mobility problems as there are stairs to contend with. Parking is also very tight for larger vehicles. Would certainly recommend this place to people though.

June 2018

Fabulous location, well appointed and equipped apartment. Would certainly stay again

August 2017

Very enjoyable, great location and views.

August 2017

The view from the apartment was breathtaking , and we spent many hours watching all the activity that happens along the river from morning till late evening . We found the beds were very comfortable and roomy which is a big bonus when you are away from home . The apartment was lovely and clean , bedlinen crisp and fresh and little items like washing up liquid , soap dispensers and toilet freshener , and plenty of toilet rolls , meant we spent less when popping to get supplies at the supermarket . I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic amount of coat hangers in the wardrobes, brilliant and very rare to be able to hang up everything in my suitcase . I try to avoid ironing and hoovering when on my hols but great that these items were there along with a hairdryer . My husband loved the shower , plenty of power and a full flow of water , we also found that the water supply was much softer than what we have at home , we soon learnt to cut back on the amount of shampoo we squeezed out, or washing up liquid we squeezed into the bowl. Little touches like milk in the fridge and flowers , cake and card were a nice touch . All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in 1C Mayflower Court , and our first visit to Dartmouth a brilliant holiday .

May 2017

We would thoroughly recommend !C Mayflower Court and hope to return in the future.

April 2017

We very much enjoyed our stay. The apartment lived up to expectations and we shall book again.

March 2017

An excellent property very well furnished and with a good standard of cleanliness. Also service from your office was first rate

February 2017

The Apartment was quite cold on arrival, but following a call to the Owner I managed to switch the Heating on and the accommodation was warm and comfortable for the rest of the week. Access to the Broadband was also a problem, we spoke to a `caretaker' on the Tuesday who checked the connection, which was apparently switched off, we had access for a few hours, but then failed and we did not get access again during our stay. I would like to add that we are very happy with the location, the apartment is very well furnished and equipped. It is the second occasion that we have stayed at Mayflower Court and will use Toad Hall Cottages again.

January 2016

We would like to thank the owners for a couple of things that are never in other rented properties. Firstly hooks for coats in the hall and also the shoe rack below. It was wonderful not to have wet coats draped over chairs in bedrooms or the sitting room and to be able to put muddy boots on the rack. The extra toilet was such a good idea too. A lovely warm, cosy flat with amazing views and an excellent location. We loved it and hope to be back.

Just had a week's stay at 1c Mayflower Court. Excellent accommodation with many thoughtful touches. Sparklingly clean and magnificent views over the estuary. Extremely comfortable and relaxing. We didn't suffer any noise from neighbouring flats and really enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect and having dedicated parking is a real bonus in Dartmouth! Would certainly recommend and happily make a return booking. Many thanks.

May 2015

Having stayed at 1C some years previously, the updated décor/facilities were most impressive and welcome First class!
