April 2024

Very interesting place to visit. A lovely gift shop, items of quality on sale. Ability to see glassblowing, and try the many marble runs. The restaurant is very good, serving tasty food , the ploughman’s is particularly appetising.

October 2023

Great family attraction. Fascinating to watch the glass blowers and all the marble runs. Lovely shop and cafe. Great food.

June 2023

Dog-friendly place which is a bonus. Nice place to pop into but items expensive

March 2023

Worst visit ever. Service was poor and staff made no eye contact so it was difficult to get their attention.

August 2021

We spent a very pleasant and interesting morning here . Cafe was very good and plenty to see and do. Staff were excellent

July 2021

An interesting place to browse, with lots of variety. The museum bits are informative (local pottery industry, some glass) & the standing kilns well preserved, so good the industrial archaeology is being kept safe. Nice cafe, unusual furniture, mirrors etc & some clothing for sale, but Teign Valley Glass is the best - made on site & free to watch. Lots of marbles too & quirky, intriguing marble runs are fun. Good on the way to or from other places.

June 2021

Very interesting for the children. A bit tight in terms of space and distancing in places.

A rip off. We have similar, but more scenic, attraction in Cornwall with free access.

May 2022

Not impressed. A rip-off we have one in Cornwall that is free and very picturesque.

September 2021

pleasant place to visit. We chose to do the shorter red route, which gave excellent views of the falls, but involved clambering over boulders, which was a little too adventurous for us. Generally the advice and signage for the walking routes could be improved

Loved this lovely walk

Canonteign Falls

The Canonteign Falls are in fact a Victorian folly being man made in the 1890’s, but this does little to detract from their beauty.  Falling from over 70m and surrounded by lush woodlandthey provide one of the most breath taking photographic and painting opportunities in Devon today.  As well as the falls, Canonteign has a total of 7 lakes full of wildlife, and is surrounded by beautiful woodland and gardens.  There is also a childrens play area, zip wire and mini assault course and lots more to see and do.

Broadsands Beach
(13 miles)

In between Brixham and Paignton, this long, sandy beach is a popular spot with families, thanks to its sheltered waters, year-round facilities and easy parking. The Blue Flag beach is perfect for making sandcastles and searching for wildlife in the rockpools. There are toilets, and two places to get ice creams, coffees and soft drinks. What’s more, the car park is right by the beach, so there’s no need to lug your provisions a long way. Behind the pretty row of colourful beach huts, there’s a large grassy area, so don’t forget to pack a ball or rounders bat to keep the whole family entertained. Exmouth Beach

Exmouth Beach is a bustling two mile stretch of golden sand at the mouth of the Exe Estuary backed by a promenade of shops and restaurants.  Old meets new here, with traditional seaside donkey rides, swing boats and crazy golf alongside volley ball courts and a huge selection of modern watersports including jet skis, kite surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and windsurfing.

Elberry Cove
(13 miles)

(1)

Far from the bustling crowds of Paignton and Brixham’s bigger beaches, this small pebbly cove is a truly relaxing spot. The calm waters are great for swimming and are said to have been one of Agatha Christie’s favourite bathing spots. Elberry Cove even features in one of her crime thriller novels, The ABC Murders. This picture-perfect cove, surrounded by sloping wooded hillsides and crystal clear water, can only be accessed by the coast path, with the nearest carpark at Broadsands Beach. From here, it is only a 10 - 15 minute walk, but make sure to pack a picnic or grab a bite to eat at Broadsands Beach before you set off, as there aren’t any facilities at here. Dogs are welcome on the beach throughout the year.

October 2023

Very enjoyable stay . Place was very warm and welcoming. Everything was provided, hand it was very clean.

October 2023

4th visit here, wonderful hosts, can't ask for a better holiday.

July 2023

So glad you now include The Star (local pub) in your places to,eat.

May 2023

Our stay was great, Tayna and Jill are lovely nothing is too much trouble. We have previously stayed at this property, that says it all for us, we are already planning to go back next year for two weeks for me who has restricticted mobility it was perfect place for us to stay. The welcome stranger less than 10 minutes up the road is brilliant, roasts and a lot of other selections on the menu, it is Dog and mobility friendly . The Ten tors pub is a bit further out in Kingsteighton and disabled and dog friendly and very helpful, and even carried my plate over to my table for me.

March 2023

Despite the damp weather, we got to walk in lots of local places whilst staying here. The property had a great range of equipment and the tea, coffee, cake, milk and bits for the dog were greatly appreciated. Hard to get the dog to sleep out of the bedroom as she barked whenever animals/people passed the patio window in the lounge and she triggered the automatic light in the hall (which woke us up). We would recommend this property

October 2022

We both had a lovely break, everything was what we hoped for, and more. Tanya, the owner, was so helpful, and told us lots of places to visit, and eating out. The perfect hostess.

October 2022

Always enjoy staying here.

September 2022

Another wonderful holiday. I am surprised that you do not mention The Star Inn Liverton which is a short stroll from the property,

August 2022

Yet again another fab stay, perfect cottage and wonderful hosts

June 2022

Perfection in every way.

May 2022

We loved our stay, glad we had a fortnight, we had limit room in the car for clothes, it was nice to have washing machine facilities on site, the only negative i can find is the iron was a travel one. The wet room was well equiped perfect for me. Tanya and Jill were next door if we needed them, but we didnt, everything was explained in a well presented welcome email which we printed off and took with us. We will definatly stay again for us it was a lovely holiday. The welcome stranger just apprx. a mile up the road does all week roasts and other good food, we ate there 10 lunchtimes, and they allow dogs. The staff were helpful and friendly. We also had a meal at the Barn Owl on the other side of Newton Abbot a lovely old pub, the meal there was good and they allow dogs too. Stover park is lovely to walk round and if you have mobility issues like myself, my mobility scooter went around all the paths. Totnes is a lovely town, full of independant shops and the market is a must. There are plenty of woods around the property to walk around and the paths on most are good. The best part of our holiday was walking along the Avon Dam at South Brent, It was lovely day out the river runs down from the dam over rocks and its a quite place to walk.

May 2022

Spotlessly clean, perfect.

July 2021

Great property, but it was backing on to the village main road. Very noisy! Lovely owners, so feel bad making any negative feedback, but must be honest.

July 2021

What a lovely cottage. Lovely homely feel, spotlessly clean, owner very welcoming. Everything in it that we required and more. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would hope to visit again in the future.

June 2021

Cottage was just perfect

October 2020

We really enjoyed our stay. The owner greeted us, after we confirmed it was alright to do so, warmly and provided us with milk, biscuits, dog treats, doggy poo bags, hand gel and surface wipes which I think goes above and beyond. We are likely to return in the not too distant future. We didn’t visit any of the attractions but tended to go on the moor with our dog.

January 2020

over all very nice the owner was helpful and we enjoyed our stay

October 2019

Everything you could need on holiday or at home. Great attention to detail. Very welcoming host, delicious home made cake, milk, butter and bread in the cottage on arrival, also dog treats for your pet who was also most welcome.

September 2019

I wish I could give more than 5 stars for this gem. We arrived and were impressed by the exterior presentation with first class ‘hard’ standing where visitors walked and parked. Opening the front door presented us with an extremely well furnished lounge area with a comfortable two seater settee as well as two comfortable arm chairs which were electrically operated both for reclining and rising should the need arise. The kitchen/dining area was of very high standard and the kitchen drawers were packed with every conceivable tool for cooking with the built in modern oven and with the fitted glass hot plates above. As the place is away from piped gas supplies everything is electric including a very efficient heating system. Two bedrooms, again with first class bedding and mattresses with one having an exceptionally well fitted en suite. In addition there is a wet room bathroom again to high standard which is fitted with rails and aids for restricted mobility guests. With two TVs, one in the lounge and the other in the main bedroom, complimented by free BT WiFi the result is accommodation which provides home from home comforts. The icing on the cake was in fact a cake. A very tasty home baked fruit cake was waiting to greet us on the dining table with milk, bread etc in the fridge. One would have to be VERY pernickety indeed to find any fault or omission. And the very warm greeting and assistance from the lady owners made this a most memorable and enjoyable holiday. It is easy to see why repeat visits are very made by many visitors.

August 2019

Absolutely perfect little cottage. Tanya and Gill have literally thought of everything you could possibly want in a holiday home and ensured it is there! So welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The area is fantastic we didn't drive more than 30 mins away the whole week. Will definately return!

August 2019

Very warm welcome and a lovely place to stay. Just on the edge of Dartmoor to do some great walks!

May 2019

A lovely short break, owners were very friendly and helpful. Cottage perfect.

April 2019

Our stay could not have been better. Lovely owners...so chatty and friendly and helpful. Well maintained and decorated property with EVERY kitchen gadget you could possibly need. Great welcome pack.
