The town offers gourmet restaurants, ancient bars, lively cafés, boutiques and specialist shops. Sail, fish, go crabbing, explore on foot or by boat, visit during the Music Festival, the Regatta or the Food Festival, there is something for everyone at every time of year; Dartmouth is truly a town for all seasons, with many visitors returning again and again.

Short breaks are available throughout January, February, November and December (excluding Christmas and New Year). Please call Toad Hall Cottages to book.

Steeped in maritime history, Dartmouth lies at the mouth of the majestic River Dart. This bustling waterfront town is overlooked by the famous and somewhat imposing Britannia Royal Naval College, just one hint at the town’s historic and strategic importance. Look around and you’ll notice old fortifications on both sides of the river. Bayards Cove Fort, dating from Tudor times is easy to access just a short stroll from the shops, or you can take the passenger ferry up to Dartmouth Castle, which has guarded the narrow entrance to the port for over 600 years, and then walk along the stunning South West Coast Path towards Stoke Fleming and Strete.

Central to Dartmouth is the “boat float”. From here, take time to explore the picturesque network of streets and alleys with their abundance of independent shops, cafés and restaurants. For art lovers, there are numerous galleries and you may even spot the famous artist, Simon Drew, at work. For a hearty brunch, see if you can squeeze onto a shared table in the bustling Café Alf Resco or for a more continental feel, sample the delights of Saveurs French bakery.

Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or a total novice, a simple must for every visitor is to take to the water. Sailing, kayaking or hopping on a passenger ferry to nearby Totnes, Dittisham or Greenway (once a home of Agatha Christie) will allow you to enjoy this truly idyllic stretch of river. Keep an eye out for wildlife on the way as you may be lucky enough to be accompanied by a friendly seal!

If you’re looking for a day out on the beach, drive along the truly breathtaking coast road to nearby Blackpool Sands (no dogs in high season) and on to Torcross at Slapton Sands, a three and a half mile stretch of beach with a neighbouring freshwater nature reserve, Slapton Ley, which is a haven for bird watchers.

From Dartmouth, you can cross the water to neighbouring Kingswear to walk the Dart Valley Trail towards Greenway, catch the steam railway or take the higher car ferry across for a family day out at Paignton Zoo or Torquay's Living Coasts.

Dartmouth itself literally heaves at the seams during Dartmouth Regatta in late August, but there is also plenty to keep you entertained throughout the rest of the year. And if you prefer simple pleasures, the embankment provides the perfect spot for crabbing. All you need is a bucket, line, net and some bait and it won’t be long before you hear squeals of delight from the whole family!

Picturesque Dartmouth is the ideal holiday cottage location for couples or families looking to enjoy all this lovely coastal town has to offer as soon as they walk out their front door.

March 2018

We were a party of eight visiting for an evening meal . We booked beforehand and were greeted immediately upon arrival and shown to our table upstairs . The waitress was pleasant and the restaurant was clean, fresh and had a warm friendly atmosphere . We are a picky bunch , but nothing was too much trouble and our waitress ran backwards and forwards to relay information from the kitchen to us . Having made decisions , and ordered we didn't have to wait long . The food arrived quickly , was hot , well presented , and plenty of it . Our waitress checked on us regularly . The food was tasty , fresh and filling , we had steaks , fish pies , pork , fish and chips , a good selection and everyone was happy . We would definitely eat here again . We loved the furnishings , especially the amazing dragons, one of our party was a seven year old little girl who thoroughly enjoyed going on a dragon hunt .

We used the Picnic Boat in 2017 - and absolutley loved it. However - please be aware that it has since sadly gone out of business (as has Kevin's excellent shop/cafe in the market, Dart to Mouth) - so probably best to remove this from your website

Blackpool Sands
Blackpool Sands
(3 miles)

(35)

Between Dartmouth and Slapton, Blackpool Sands is a beautiful shingle bay on the South West Coast Path, surrounded by evergreens and pine trees. It really is a treasure of a beach to visit while you’re in the area. Award-winning, the privately owned, blue flag beach boasts a sense of being in the Mediterranean on a good day in the summer, although a good jumper never goes amiss in this part of the world! You will no doubt not be surprised to hear that it is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, however it also boasts ample facilities and things to do. There are showers, toilets and disabled facilities, as well as paddle board, kayak and wetsuit hire available for those wishing to earn their visit to The Venus Beach Café, where light bites and refreshments are served. The Venus Shop also sells all the bits and pieces you might want for fun and games on the beach if you have forgotten them or are in need of extra buckets and spades. The water at Blackpool Sands is known for being clean and clear and tested by the Environment Agency, and lifeguards are on hand in the summer (July to September) so there’s every reason to pop in for a dip. However, dogs are not allowed on the beach in the high season (12th March to 30th October) so keep the walking for the cooler months. There is parking available at the beach with seasonal charges, and you can find out more information on those from the Blackpool Sands information line on 01803 771800. This beach is easy to get to and quite literally fun and games for the whole family, as well as a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year to take in the view!

July 2023

Looks a lovely beach but unfortunately no dogs allowed at all

June 2023

Visited Blackpool sands on our honeymoon 27 years ago and have enjoyed it on both occasions. A lovely clean beach with a very nice restaurant/cafe. We walked to the beach and got the local bus back up to Stoke Fleming.

May 2023

we love this beach always clean good parking clean facilities and good cafe.

September 2022

We did go to this beach, couldn’t go in the sea as it was so rough, was beautiful though. No sand, but still very nice.

September 2022

Beautiful beach; very blue water. It’s more a pebbly rather than a sandy beach, love it all the same. It’s clean and there are lifeguards in the summer months which is when we visited. The toilets were clean and not far from the beach; no queues for the toilet either. Parking can be a bit pricey at £9 for the whole day of you come in the morning but didn’t mind it. You pay less though if you come in the afternoon. The is a little sandpit area for a any kids who want to play in sand

September 2022

It is a really beautiful beach although, despite its name, it is not a sandy beach, however our son and grandson were keen on paddle boarding. They made a special visit for this and were told that the paddleboard facilities were closed but to come the following day when the facilities were still closed! Considering that this was during the height of the holiday season, my son was a bit put out having made two wasted trips.

August 2022

A lovely beach, stunning veiw as you drive down towards it. Very clean with clear water.

August 2022

Lovely clean beach although very quiet. There was a small charge for parking.

April 2022

September 2021

No sand! Very clean and scenic, but very disappointing if you want to run around on sand

August 2021

Lovely pretty beach with good facilities.

June 2021

Very large shingle beach, charges for parking at a set fee no matter how long your visit. Can pay by card for parking as well as cash.

May 2021

Great beach

November 2020

Lovely sandy beach. Parked here (£2) whilst doing a circular walk and then returned for a walk along the beach.

November 2020

Dogs allowed on beach out of season, a bracing walk with coffee and millionaire shortbread at the cafe to finish.

October 2020

Great beach really beautiful , even in the rain, as the Venus café is right on the beach and is warm, dry and serves great food and drinks at reasonable prices.

October 2019

One of our favourite beaches, in a beautiful setting. Plenty of car parking and plenty of room on the beach, even on a busy day. The sea is clean and clear and the facilities are excellent (nice to have changing rooms). Thoroughly recommend this beach.

October 2019

Beautiful stretch of shingle beach nestled between steep hills at either end. Excellent facilities including one of the best beach cafes we've ever visited.

September 2019

We had a wonderful day at Blackpool sands. A shingle beach within a lovely cove, it was clean and felt safe for the children to swim in the water (which was also sparkling). The beach is privately run, so the carpark fee was a bit stiff (£8 for the day), however the upside of this was a beautifully clean beach with lots of amenities, including rental of SUPs and other water equipment, a great cafe, and really clean loos. On a busy day you would need to arrive before lunchtime, or the carpark will shut, but this also means that the beach didn't feel crowded at all.

September 2019

Parking charge between £3 - £8 depending on time of year, Also food good but e.g. Hawaiian Prawns (£9) consisted of 5 prawns. Not good value for money.

October 2018

Lovely beach, not sandy but the stones are okay. Good food, beverages, coast guards, Nice view and not so cowded

August 2018

Lovely clean beach in super location along coastal road. Great place to visit.

May 2018

Beautiful clean beach with excellent facilities.Clean toilets lovely cafe and shop.Lifeguard on the beach. No dogs allowed.Plenty of parking. We enjoyed rock pooling at the far end of the beach. The owner does a great job.You can also visit Blackpool Sands garden but we did not have time. Also a juggler was there on the day we went great fun for everyone.

August 2017

Beautiful location but shame it a shingle beach and not sandy. Also very disappointed with the £8 fee to park the car .

August 2017

Perfect venue for a sunny day! Secluded beach which is clean and tidy, with a cafe, snack bar and shop, beach equipment hire too

July 2017

The cost of the parking steep

June 2017

June 2017

Stunning beach, and you can get takeaway cream tea from the cafe to have on the beach!!

May 2017

Elberry Cove
(4 miles)

(1)

Far from the bustling crowds of Paignton and Brixham’s bigger beaches, this small pebbly cove is a truly relaxing spot. The calm waters are great for swimming and are said to have been one of Agatha Christie’s favourite bathing spots. Elberry Cove even features in one of her crime thriller novels, The ABC Murders. This picture-perfect cove, surrounded by sloping wooded hillsides and crystal clear water, can only be accessed by the coast path, with the nearest carpark at Broadsands Beach. From here, it is only a 10 - 15 minute walk, but make sure to pack a picnic or grab a bite to eat at Broadsands Beach before you set off, as there aren’t any facilities at here. Dogs are welcome on the beach throughout the year.

Lovely quieter beach, dog and BBQ friendly. We had teens that hired kayaks from nearby Broadsands beach and paddled around the coast to meet us. Very accomodating kayak hire and not too expensive.

August 2018

Broadsands Beach
(4 miles)

In between Brixham and Paignton, this long, sandy beach is a popular spot with families, thanks to its sheltered waters, year-round facilities and easy parking. The Blue Flag beach is perfect for making sandcastles and searching for wildlife in the rockpools. There are toilets, and two places to get ice creams, coffees and soft drinks. What’s more, the car park is right by the beach, so there’s no need to lug your provisions a long way. Behind the pretty row of colourful beach huts, there’s a large grassy area, so don’t forget to pack a ball or rounders bat to keep the whole family entertained. Broadsands Beach is a popular dog walking spot throughout autumn and winter, but there is a seasonal dog ban during the summer months (1st May - 30th September).

St Mary's Bay
(4 miles)

The decent to St Mary’s Bay is one of the best views in Brixham, with panoramic views of the English Riviera. This beautiful, unspoilt beach has a carpark nearby, but we recommend walking there to make the most of the stunning surroundings. The sandy and shingle beach is sheltered by steep cliffs on either side, which means the decent to the beach isn’t easy, especially for those with mobility disabilities. There are no facilities at the beach, but visitors can take the coast path north to Berry Head Nature Reserve, where there is a great café and toilets, as well as stunning coastal views. Dogs are welcome all year, making St Mary’s Bay a great place to take a well-earned rest on your dog walk.

Churston Cove
(5 miles)

If you’re willing to venture off the beaten track, you’ll discover one of Brixham’s hidden gems, Churston Cove. Surrounded by sloping wooded hillsides, this beautiful little cove isn’t the easiest to get to, which makes it an idyllic, peaceful place to while away the day. The crystal clear water is safe for kids to paddle and play in, and is a popular swimming spot. Parking is available at Freshwater carpark, a 15-minute walk away. There are no toilet facilities or cafes, and the beach is accessed via a long, steep path, which is uneven in places, but this beautiful little cove is worth the effort. Churston Cove is dog-friendly all year round.

Another lovely stay at 6 Mayflower Court. Dartmouth was as lovely as ever, with a mixture of weather, but always something to look at on the river. Thank you Rose for a warm and welcoming and absolutely spotless flat - and for the cake and milk. I hope to be back again. Same time, next year.

December 2023

Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us. We are Dartmouth regulars and love the town but this is the first time in Mayflower Court. The apartment is gorgeous and had everything we needed including separate seating areas for kids and Mum and Dad! The views across the river and to Kingswear are stunning, we hope to be back again soon!

December 2023

Lovely stylish, warm and very well equipped flat, everything is of a high standard and very clean! Lots of very thoughtful and helpful touches, from the nightlight to the flowers to the shoehorn. The views are great and in just a few steps you are in the centre where there are lots of shops and restaurants. We liked the Royal Castle pub and restaurant. We have been booking through Toad Hall Cottages for some years now and find them really efficient and helpful, the website is clear and informative, it's really easy to book.

December 2023

Yes and we hope to return. So comfortable and nicely presented and well equipped. The view and location perfect. Also the Toad Hall process clear. Thank you

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment with its wonderful views. Beautifully furnished and equipped and spotlessly clean. Our weather was changeable but the apartment was warm and cosy. We have been visiting Dartmouth for over 40 years and it has never lost it charm.

October 2023

A return visit for us. We love the flat its very comfortable and we feel very at home here, love the views. We had some surprisingly good weather despite being here during Storm Ciaran.

Wonderful location and fabulous views. Very well kitted out ?????

September 2023

Just love this place, bother the apartment and Dartmouth. The apartment is just lovely and I am sure we will be back.

September 2023

We had a great holiday visiting local attractions, but would welcome your comments regarding the parking facilities.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review, we’re very happy to hear you had a great holiday. Regarding parking, we can confirm there is one space per apartment for a small / medium sized car. We regret that some visitors to Mayflower Court do not adhere to this size restriction which can lead to the difficulties you encountered. Best wishes.

- The Toad Hall Team

August 2023

This apartment is wonderful in every way. We’ll be back.

August 2023

Our second stay this year and No.6 never fails to please. Beautifully clean, and well equipped. Little touches like the flowers really make a difference! Weather has been glorious and we feel lucky to have spent half term here.Looking forward to our next visit, fingers crossed this year!

May 2023

Another glorious week in this excellent apartment!

May 2023

Always lovely to stay at no6. Noise from other flats still a issue (I nodded off each night to the snores of someone in the flat above!). Will probably be back next year as I miss the view!!

April 2023

A lovely little apartment which has everything you could need. Ideal location and great views. We would happily return. Recycling facilities are the only thing we'd improve as there are none. We've taken a big bag of recycling home with us but I suspect many wouldn't (no plastic or cardboard recycling at Mayor's car park). Otherwise, a great stay! Thanks!

We are delighted that you have had a wonderful stay at 6 Mayflower Court. Just for information purposes, the owner pays for a recycling service whereby all waste (including recycling) should be placed in the blue sacks provided at the apartment. These sacks are collected on the changeover day and hand-sorted by the bin company to ensure all waste that can be recycled, is. Thank you for being so eco-conscious though and we hope this puts your mind at ease. We hope to welcome you back to No. 6 again very soon!

- The Toad Hall Team

March 2023

A lovely base to explore. Enjoyed our return visit to 6 Mayflower Court. We will be back.

February 2023

What a beautiful apartment, so well set up and with everything we could have needed, including flowers and a delightful cake! Gorgeous view from the lounge and bedroom windows, enabling us to watch the boats and the weather. A wonderful stay all round - we will definitely be booking again.

February 2023

Lovely return visit to this flat, this time bringing a friend into my favourite place. The flat as before is perfect and beautifully equipped with everything anyone could want. The weather was kind to us and we were able to visit favourite haunts such as Greenway, Coleton Fishacre, Little Dartmouth as well as a trip to Salcombe and Rockfish of course!

February 2023

We had a wonderful time and everything about the apartment was perfect. We have stayed in No 6 before, though not for some time, and hope to be back soon. The apartment is ideally located with riverside views and close to the centre of Dartmouth.

February 2023

Our first time in this apartment, although we have been frequent visitors to South Hams for over 30 years. Absolutely first class, beautifully clean and set up. thank you for the milk, cake and flowers - lovely touches. Weather has been very kind and we have enjoyed the warm sun in February! Fabulous place for us, we love Dartmouth.

February 2023

My third stay in this accommodation and I will definitely return.

January 2023

Another enjoyable week in the conveniently placed, comfortable and well equipped apartment. It was a pleasure to meet Philip briefly on arrival. Many thanks for the welcome pack and we will be back.

January 2023

Lovely stay, despite unpredictable weather. Lovely comfortable apartment and loved the view over to Kingswear.

January 2023

Our first stay in this lovely apartment but not our last, we have booked for longer in September. There hasn't been enough time to do everything we wanted!

December 2022

A lovely week in your lovely apartment. Spotlessly clean and so well equipped. Slept so well in the comfy beds! Mixed weather but enjoyed Diamond Jubilee circular walk, Dartmouth Castle to Slapton Sands, Start Point to Lannacombe Totnes and Salcombe, Greenway in the rain!

December 2022

Really enjoyed our week in No.6. Lovely warm and cosy apartment. Thank you.

December 2022

Super warm and cosy. Well equipped, pleasing decor. Thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay at No.6. Toadhall staff extremely helpful & popped in when we had a minor query - thank you very much. We look forward to staying at No. 6 again.

December 2022

We had a wonderful stay, location, parking perfect. Flat was spotless, warm and comfortable. We hope to return. comfiness of

November 2022

We had an excellent holiday, even the weather was good to us and when it wasn't, we had an excellent view of the river and what was going on there.

November 2022

Our favourite apartment in our favourite resort. Back in June.

November 2022

This was the second enjoyable stay within six months at this property. The welcome goodies on arrival are especially worthy of mention. The facilities for eating out within a reasonable distance of the property are mixed, especially outside the main holiday season. Bayards Cove Inn is particularly good for lunch although the menu is somewhat limited.

October 2022

We have stayed at 6 Mayflower Court several times. We very much enjoyed our stay and have already booked it again for next year.

September 2022

This is an excellent property in which we’ve stayed many times. The standard of cleaning and presentation is very high and it contains everything we need.

August 2022

Another lovely stay in your amazing apartment. We have had a brilliant holiday - been especially blessed by the sunshine. Everything was perfect, thank you for the cake, milk and flowers. Thank you Rose for the sparkling clean facilities and making out stay a real home from home.

July 2022

Wonderful apartment with fabulous views. Very comfortable with excellent facilities.

July 2022

Size of new vehicles made the carpark very difficult.

July 2022

We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay at 6 Mayflower Court. First time was 5 years ago.

June 2022

Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Fantastic position.

June 2022

No 6 truly came up trumps for us when we booked a last minute holiday. The apartment is truly delightful, beautifully presented, clean and well equipped. The views and the activity on the river kept us entertained. We have done some splendid walks, the lower half of the Dart Valley Trail, crossing the Dart at the higher ferry slipway and walking to Greenway before crossing for Dittisham and starting the return. Truly a great location!

May 2022

The refurbishment of No6 made the best apartment in Mayflower Court even better- I would not want to stay in any other. Thank you!!

May 2022

Another good week in Dartmouth in this first class apartment. Weather has been excellent so able to walk. Worth mentioning - the bluebells on the site of the old fort were incredible. There is a good American film in the museum dealing with the build up to D.Day. Especially distressing was the film of local people having to leave their homes. A good find was DOLIUM - a small station wine bar a few doors up from the Kingswear railway station.

April 2022

Apartment great, everything that you need is here. It is very clean and so relaxing! The views are fantastic and kept us both entertained all week, just wish we could take them home with us.

April 2022

A wonderful stay! The apartment is so clean and well-equipped. We have been coming to Dartmouth for many years and will certainly be back to 6 Mayflower Court.

April 2022

Fantastic stay! Very clean and well equipped apartment. We really enjoyed "the round robin" trip boat, bus and steam train and would definitely recommend it. We had fish and chips from both Rockfish and Wheelhouse - for us Wheelhouse was slightly better. As all other guests have said, no downside - perfect!

April 2022

Apartment fab! So well equipped with amazing views. No downside at all. Bed sooo comfortable. As mentioned previously, Rockfish is excellent, best lemon sole ever.

March 2022

Great stay. Lovely comfortable apartment in an excellent location.

March 2022

Having stayed in No.6 on many occasions we thoroughly enjoyed this last stay in March. The property is very well furnished and equipped with a fantastic view of the river and we will continue to recommend it to our friends and look forward to returning again. We recommend Rockfish.

March 2022

Lots of noise from the flat above - not much can be done about that. We realised that the view from the first floor is probably better than those above due to the more level view across the river and the raised floor in the seating area. The flat is near perfect – immaculate’.

February 2022

Superb flat, so cosy and comfortable with, of course, the fabulous view. We loved it and wouldn't hesitate to stay again (although it looks well booked up!). I've been visiting Dartmouth for many, many years (but usually booking property on the spur of the moment, so have to take whatever is available) and I can honestly say that this flat was the best place I've stayed in. It is the view, good quality furnishings, fixtures and fittings and decor, and its proximity to everything that you need that makes it. I could live there. In fact - I want to live there!

January 2022

Beautifully presented flat, very well equipped, warm and comfortable for our January stay. Brilliant location , flat walk into Dartmouth and great views of the river.

December 2021

Really enjoyed our short break here at No.6. First time here, no doubt we'll come again. Lovely apartment, great location and fab views. Very clean and welcoming. Thanks for the goodies on arrival. We just felt a blind at the back door would have been a good idea for privacy, otherwise all lovely. Blackpool Sands beautiful beach with good cafe - bacon baps - excellent! We'd recommend The Floating Bridge, especially the tapas starter for 2 - fab!

November 2021

This apartment really is first class, beautifully maintained and in the perfect location.

November 2021

Yes thank you. Excellent.

November 2021

Yes, we very much enjoyed our stay. We have stayed in this property many times and on our return have now booked it for a week in 2022.

October 2021

We had a lovely week and would love to come back

September 2021

Thanks to Mr & Mrs Brown for the refurbishment, and to Rose for cleanliness.

September 2021

greatly enjoyed our 3rd stay in no.6 for a much needed rest. Only slight reservation is fact that larger vehicles are making the car park very difficult.

September 2021

Excellent property which has been further enhanced with the redecoration.

August 2021

The apartment was perfect. The view is wonderful and ideal for boat/people/dog watching! A morning coffee at the window in the bedroom was great. Everything needed was in the apartment and the recent redecoration is lovely. Shower was great and beds comfortable. Perfectly clean. It is very close to the shops and cafes etc and you will see new things on your walk every day. Kids can have a go at crabbing right outside the apartment. Boat trips are on offer along the front. The unusual lower ferry system is a must see! We enjoyed a boat ride to Dittisham on the little ferry. We had a trip on the steam train, and rented kayaks on the beach at Blackpool Sands. We walked round to Dartmouth Castle for great views of the houses on the water. There are lots of nice little shops in the town. We had booked a few pubs for meals before we arrived and that all went well. ‘Alf Rescos’ for breakfast was great, we arrived 8.30/8.40 for a table! Try the shakes and waffles from Morellos hut in the nearby park. There was plenty to do for a week without driving anywhere. Parking spaces are a little small but our Audi A4 small estate did fit and we left it parked most of the week anyway. We love Dartmouth and are missing the view from this apartment already. Highly recommended.

July 2021

Excellent stay thank you. Hope to return

July 2021

Very much enjoyed our stay. We have stayed there before and have already booked for next year.

July 2021

Very much enjoyed number 6 , would defiantly stay there again .

June 2021

every thing with the apartment was very good parking was a problem at times, a list of restaurant's and phone numbers would be helpful

June 2021

We have enjoyed our stay in this very modern and clean apartment, everything we needed was at hand. We would recommend this apartment to anyone, we had a lovely stay. Thank you.

June 2021

A broom and dust pan and brush for kitchen and bathroom. Vacuum cleaner heavy and hard to use.

May 2021

We love staying at Mayflower Court and appreciate the refurbishment. As always the standard is high. We hope to be back next year!

May 2021

We have stayed in various apartments at Mayflower Court over the years and No.6 is the best, nicely furnished and well equipped. Superb.

October 2020

Yes we did. Views were fantastic and having parking was a huge bonus.

October 2020

Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely view of the River Dart. Parking Spaces are however ridiculously narrow. Noise from guests above was inconsiderate. But on the whole we were very with the property.

September 2020

We had a fabulous stay and would highly recommend this property. The only downside is the car park which isn’t big enough for the number of people staying in Mayflower Court.

August 2020

A wonderful property with exceptional views and well equipped. I would gladly stay there again.

July 2020

Yes enjoyed very much. Sparkling clean, smartly presented and beautiful views - all created a great first impression. Would love to stay again.

July 2020

So impressed with the sparkling cleanliness and beautiful views. It's a really comfortable apartment in a great location and we've had a really lovely week. Will return! P.S. We really appreciated the welcome pack and all the extra little touches like the night light in the hallway!

July 2020

Thank you - I don't think we've ever stayed anywhere so clean. It was spotless.

July 2020

The place seemed really clean which is reassuring in these Covid times. Well appointed apartment with good thinking regarding needs of the holiday makers e.g. dishwasher tablets, salad shaker, bottle stoppers. All little things but nice to have them provided.

March 2020

Another wonderful break. The location is ideal in all types of weather conditions - and I think we had nearly all of them in a week!!

February 2020

Have stayed in this property many times - and plan to return later in the year.

February 2020

We had an amazing time. We loved Dartmouth, the view from the property and there was plenty to do in the area.

January 2020

Enjoyed our few days R&R. Lovely apartment, nice and warm and lovely to watch the world go by from the windows!

January 2020

Yes we enjoyed our stay. Very warm and welcoming in January.

November 2019

Yes, we did enjoy our stay. View is great and even in winter there is always something happening on the river. Excellent places to eat and M & S Food all within very easy walking

November 2019

Yes, another great holiday.

October 2019

We had a very enjoyable and much needed break, and hope to return.

October 2019

Wonderful stay. Stayed in same appartment last year & couldn’t fault it at all. Excellent. Rose very friendly & helpful & tea, coffee, milk cake on arrival very welcoming. Love Dartmouth

September 2019

Had a very enjoyable stay, everything was perfect for us.

September 2019

We very much enjoyed our stay, as always. No problems with parking this time - very grateful to you and the owners for dealing with the previous problems and the new style labels, with guidelines. See you in February!

September 2019

A really lovely flat in a prime position . Some people rather noisy when they vacated the flat at 530 on Saturday but that was not your fault just inconsiderate people . Great holiday thank you.

August 2019

We had a brilliant stay in Dartmouth. The property is very comfortable and we’ve stayed there many times.

August 2019

2nd time in Mayflower Court and hopefully not the last. An all round enjoyable holiday in a super apartment in an ideal location

July 2019

Just perfect-5th visit

June 2019

Would highly recommend this apartment

June 2019

Third stay and still as good as ever.

May 2019

We found the apartment excellent, views wonderful and all in very good order.

April 2019

Fabulous apartment, excellent holiday.

March 2019

Yes, we did enjoy our stay - we have been there many times before

March 2019

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - very comfortable apartment with the bonus of on site parking and lovely views. Storage heaters are very difficult to get the right balance, so appreciated the provision of alternative heaters.

March 2019

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Will be returning (booked).

October 2018

Enjoyed our stay very much, booked already for next year. Binoculars was a nice touch.

October 2018

Perfection! Accommodation surroundings and weather. We parked the car at apartment and walked bused or stayed in dartmouth. Brilliant! Ate at flosting bridge 4 times wanted to work our way thru menu.. the rock fish once and good old pasties once. Thank you!

September 2018

Our stay was excellent ideal property in Dartmouth adjacent to all amenities and good views of the river.

September 2018

Beautiful apartment. Great location and views!

July 2018

A wonderful flat in a perfect location, the views from the lounge & bedroom are amazing, on arrival it was spotlessly clean, the beds were also really comfortable - I would not hesitate to book this flat again it was perfect.

July 2018

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, very comfortable bed, lovely idea to have small table and chairs in bedroom. Beautiful views. Absolutely the best apartment we have stayed in. Lovely personal touches by leaving us vitals.

July 2018

Yes thank you, we did.

May 2018

Great accommodation. All facilities near by, wonderful holiday.Would certainly recommend.

May 2018

Very much so. Dartmouth is a very friendly place with lots to do in and around the town. We sampled The Royal Castle Hotel (Grill Room), The Angel and Rockfish. Very high quality in each. Plenty to do on the river and Greenaways and Coleton Fishacre well worth a visit. The quality and location of the apartment was the icing on the cake.

May 2018

Yes very enjoyable. Just a minor thing, the kitchen clock was not working, and there should maybe be a clock provided in the living room? Otherwise excellent.

May 2018

Thoroughly enjoyed stay

April 2018

Amazing property amazing views. The apartment is beautifully decorated & furnished thanks to the owners.

March 2018

Most enjoyable stay would have preferred a little less snow

December 2017

Had a great stay and would recommend both the property and the location.

October 2017

Rose Bastin is an absolute gem. Helpful and obliging. Both flats (we had 7 Mayflower Court for the second week) were very clean and tidy.

October 2017

We had a super holiday thank you.

October 2017

Excellent stay in this lovely central apartment.

July 2017

We didn't want to leave. Lovely flat. lovely location. Perfect!

July 2017

Excellent holiday and the weather was amazing. I would have liked to know the procedure for change of sheets and towels as we were staying for 2 weeks without having to ask.

June 2017

Stay was excellent made even more so by the splendid weather

June 2017

We cannot think of any way the flat could have been improved. We had a lovely holiday and fully appreciated all the extras cake, milk, tea, coffee, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and naturally toilet paper! Sincere thanks.

June 2017

We had a great stay at Mayflower Court. The apartment was in an excellent location with lovely views. It was clean and furnished to a high standard.

May 2017

We had a really relaxing holiday with excellent accommodation and lovely weather

May 2017

Brilliant accommodation in a superb location.

May 2017

The apartment lived up to all expectations - and beyond- my sister -in-law and her husband having recommended it. The views from the sitting room and main bedroom across Dartmouth harbour , the accommodation and general high standard left nothing to be desired. We would like to commend Rose, our caretaker for her sterling efforts to get us back into the property when we had locked ourselves out! Perhaps deadlocks would be better on the front doors when one lets the door shut with the keys indoors!

Glad you had a lovely holiday and sorry that you locked yourselves out. Hopefully our bringing the spare keys out from Kingsbridge that evening to let you back in solved the problem. The Toad Hall team.

- The Toad Hall Team

March 2017

Superb, as usual.

February 2017

We enjoyed our week at 6 Mayflower Court. It was nice and cosy and well equipped, would definitely stay there again in the future. We also met the owners on arrival, also met Rose the Caretaker on departure, all were very welcoming and friendly.

February 2017

We loved this property. It's in a great location, just a few hundred yards from all the amenities in Dartmouth and with an M&S food hall on the doorstep. The apartment itself is a real home from home and is extremely well equipped. The view from the lounge & front bedroom windows across the river towards Kingswear is superb. We will certainly be booking to stay here again next time we go to Dartmouth.

January 2017

Excellent. As always. Warm, comfortable and spacious. And a wonderful view. A very well equipped kitchen. What more could you ask for!

March 2016

Used up all my superlatives last year! This flat is ideal for our purposes in terms of accommodation, equipment, view and proximity to M&S food supplies and town centre [I have rather limited mobility at present]. Parking also a great bonus.

November 2015

First time at this apartment. We will be back in the new year. The weather was awful but we enjoyed the comfort of the apartment and also the fantastic views.

August 2015

This is the third time we have stayed at 6 Mayflower Court and we had as good a holiday as on our previous visits. The flat is very well equipped, and well maintained, and the location is brilliant! I have always found Toad Hall Cottage staff helpful and booking etc. straightforward.

March 2015

A superb holiday base with no negatives. I particularly liked the raised platforms allowing an optimum view while sitting in the lounge and bedroom. I'm afraid I forgot to record our thanks for the 'welcome' goodies in the visitors' book. A nice touch and perhaps you would kindly pass on our appreciation. We were particularly impressed that there was even a collander supplied to watch the eclipse with! A pity about the cloud - could you please arrange a sunny day for the next one in September 2090? Overall, an absolutely outstanding property in a delightful area. With its 'one flight' access, on site parking and proximity to the town, it's ideal for our circumstances and we will certainly hope to return when possible.

March 2015

Again we have enjoyed our holiday via Toad Hall and hope to continue for many years

September 2014

Dartmouth is a lovely place. The property had good parking , which meant that we never had to take the car out at all. The public transport, buses, steam train or boat was brilliant. When we go to Dartmouth again we will definitely be staying at a toad hall property.

July 2014

Super accommodation in an ideal location.

June 2014

This is the second time we have stayed in this property and it is brilliant - lovely position, beautifully kept, with everything we could want, even parking - a rare thing in Dartmouth! Dartmouth is great, too.

March 2014

Amazing flat with outstanding views. Spotlessly clean and spacious flat with everything that you could ever need, especially in the kitchen. Very close to local restaurants and shops. Highly recommended , we can't wait to go back!

November 2013

Discovered Toad Hall Cottages through Dartmouth TIC website. Did not seem to come up when we searched for Devon self catering properties on Google ? Last minute booking all very efficiently handled. Overall an excellent few days.

November 2013

A fantastic relaxing holiday made all the more enjoyable by the quality of accommodation and ease of booking!

October 2013

Our second stay in Dartmouth with Toad Hall Cottages and would love to stay at 6 Mayflower Court again sometime in the future due to location and layout - Ideal!!!!!

September 2013

I thought previous self-catering properties I had used were excellent. However, 6 Mayflower COurt ticks all the boxes. A very special comfortable apartment overlooking the wonderful harbour and level walking distance to shops and buses. And M&S Simply Foods!! There is also such a wonderful choice of excellent restaurants within walking distance. In other words - will return!

July 2013

Only one suggestion for improvement a couple of additional towels would be useful. 2 hand towels and 2 bath towels for a week seems a little 'poor' compared with the rest of the equipment provided, regards, Mike

June 2013

I booked the holiday for myself and my mum as a present for her 80th birthday, and it was perfect for us. The apartment was brilliantly located and the view was fabulous. I found the staff I spoke to at Toad Hall Cottages very helpful indeed. The only glitch was that I was told the key safe was beside the front door, and actually it is inside the kitchen window embrasure, so we didn't see it at first - but I phoned your office and the staff member was again very helpful.
