AS FEATURED ON ITV1's "HOLIDAY HOME SWEET HOME"...

The Cobbles is a sympathetically modernised 18th century whitewashed fisherman’s cottage overlooking Polperro beach and the harbour mouth, which retains all its old world charm whilst providing a high standard of comfortable living accommodation. The cottage is located on a pedestrianised lane, a short walk from the centre of this quintessential 16th century Cornish fishing village and rewards guests with delightful sea views from most rooms. Tasteful furnishings, neutral colours and quality accessories combine to create a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere, accentuated by the soothing murmur of the sea. Steps behind the cottage lead up to a small, sunny terrace which has panoramic views of the harbour and village. The South West Coastal path passes close to the cottage and for those who enjoy exploring, the whole of Cornwall with its abundance of attractions is easily accessible by car.

Front stable door from lane opens into a kitchen/diner: with a slate floor and underfloor heating, modern painted wooden kitchen units, an induction hob, built-in electric fan oven, dishwasher, fridge with icebox, washer/dryer, dining table to seat five and window seat overlooking the harbour.
Stairs to first floor Living room: with oak flooring, large window seat with spectacular views, woodburner, large sofa, armchair, 32" LCD TV, DVD player and a DAB radio with iPod docking station.
Family bathroom: with slate floor, bath, shower over, hand basin and WC. Door to rear.
Stairs to second floor. Master bedroom: with 6ft super king size bed, fitted wardrobes and window seat.
Twin bedroom: with two 3ft single beds (one is 5ft 10in long) and fitted wardrobe.

From the rear door, steps lead up past a neighbour’s terrace to a small patio area with garden table and chairs and views of the harbour, village and sea.
Please Note: The rear terrace and steps are not suitable for unaccompanied young children and the elderly may find access difficult.
Please Note: The garden steps can become slippery in wet weather.

The traditional fishing village of Polperro, set along the dramatic South Cornish coastline between Looe and Fowey, is steeped in maritime history. Wandering its pretty, narrow, winding streets offers a nostalgic taste of times gone by.

For centuries local families here were reliant on “Polperro pilchards” which were sold right across Europe. Nowadays, there is still an active fishing fleet but their catch is more varied. You can sample their wares in a number of local restaurants, pubs and cafes, or simply sit back and watch the fishermen at work in the harbour as you tuck into a fresh crab sandwich.

Polperro has an abundance of small, twisting lanes, most of which are simply not wide enough for modern vehicles. Some are little wider than footpaths, so leave your car in the main car park at Crumplehorn and from here you can walk, catch the bus or even take a horse and cart the half mile down into the village. The traffic-free zones allow you to explore the winding alleys of whitewashed fishermen’s cottages at your leisure.

It’s easy to imagine the hustle and bustle of people with loaded horse & carts rumbling past during Polperro’s smuggling heyday, or the scores of  ladies lining the streets nimbly knitting fishermen’s jumpers, known locally as “knit-frocks”. On the harbour-side you can visit the Polperro Heritage Museum of Fishing and Smuggling to immerse yourself more fully in Polperro’s rich history.

The village and harbour are best seen at high tide, but at low tide, a small beach appears so it’s possible to go for a paddle. The picturesque South West Coast Path runs right through the Polperro. If you walk east along the coast you’ll reach the beautiful Talland Bay, or alternatively hop in your car to visit other nearby sandy beaches including Seaton, Downderry, Lansallos and Lantic Bay. Regular boat trips run from the harbour offering fantastic views of the coastline and day trips to nearby Looe, and you might even spot dolphins and seals on your way!

A holiday cottage in Polperro offers a wonderfully traditional seaside escape on the dramatic South East Cornish coast.

In the main public car park at the entrance to the village (charges apply/cash only). Alternatively, Toad Hall Cottages have some spaces to rent on a first come, first served basis in the village - please enquire at time of booking.

There is also a local independent luggage taxi service available. If you would like your luggage delivered straight to your door. (charges apply)

Please note: There is no car access to the property.

  • Included: Bed linen, towels, WiFi, electricity and heating (underfloor and night storage). Logs and kindling for woodburner can be purchased in village.
  • Pets: One well behaved pet welcome by arrangement with THC (living areas only). Pet Charge: £30.00 per week.
  • Telephone: No land line.   Mobile reception poor (Orange and T-Mobile/EE good).
  • Local Facilities: Polperro beach 10 minutes walk. Talland beach 1 mile. Other beaches are easily accessible by car. Shops, pubs and restaurants all in Polperro. Looe with more facilities, 4 miles. Plymouth 25 miles. Truro 29 miles.

Really well cooked quality food amidst a lovely old world pub atmosphere and friendly staff. Good value for money for the quality of the ingredients.

September 2023

Unfriendly welcome from waitress. Waited too.long so went next door to the three pilchards.

September 2023

Unpleasant welcome from waitress, dumped in an empty upstairs room with far too many tables far too close together. Left twiddling our thumbs so got up and went to the Three Pilchards just down the way which is excellent (and friendly)

June 2022

There is always a lovely welcome at The Blue Peter

June 2022

Ordered a seafood platter as wanted to try the locally sourced fish. I love all fish, but this was Truly awful. Couldn't taste the fish for the garlic over everything. The breadcrumb was so lightly fried, it was soggy. When the waitress came over and noticed the almost untouched meal, she asked if I enjoyed it. I said I didnt and told her why. She said 'I will pass on your feedback and left, no 'sorry about that's , nothing. Tried a seafood platter in another pub and it was amazing. Very disappointed in the Blue Peter.

December 2021

Absolutely fantastic , food was incredible, staff couldn’t do enough for you , it’s such a difficult place to find an evening table as you cannot pre book a table , but staff were happy to take a telephone no and call you as soon as a table became available, and that’s every night , even in October !! Having eaten their I now understand why they are inundated with bookings . Even with food allergies they went above and beyond to help , advise and swap for different ingredients, fabulous.

November 2021

September 2021

Lovely quirky pub with harbour wall seating. We didn’t eat here but found drinks ambience and service great.

September 2021

Unfortunately not for us. After our first visit we never went back. When an establishment has other scrumptious eateries/restaurants within a few meters it really needs to up its game in the food department.

September 2021

Fantastic food, atmosphere and service. Lovely pub!

August 2021

Very lazy unhelpful staff. Asked to sit on a vacant table outside for either a drink or food at 8.20pm and was told they needed to close the tables down so we could not. I asked what time they closed outside tables and was told 9pm. They offered no alternative and were not at all interested in us but more interested in talking between themselves and closing early. I felt as though I was interrupting them.

July 2021

Always on our list places to eat. Fish & chip wrap is a must to try

July 2021

December 2019

We ate here 3 times in the week we were in Polperro. Very pleasant staff, child-friendly and most importantly beautiful food. The crab on ciabatta is the stand out dish, try it with a glass of local scrumpy, but it's all delicious. I've no idea how they achieve what they do in that teeny tiny kitchen!

June 2018

Our favourite pub in the whole of Cornwall, we frequent it most nights on our weeks holiday each year and eat there at least twice a week and have never had a bad meal. The only problem with the Blue Peter it isn't big enough for when there is music on and gets very crowded but apart from that a brilliant pub and the bar staff who have been there a few years are lovely and friendly.

June 2018

August 2023

A lovely pub with excellent food. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There is plenty of outside space for busy periods in the summer. The no booking policy is a tad annoying but I can see why they do it that way. We returned for another meal as we loved it so much.

August 2023

Nice location . Meal so so

August 2023

Fabulous little pub restaurant at the heart of the harbour. Food plentiful and delicious. Fantastic tiered garden with amazing views of the harbour and village.

July 2023

Lovely beer garden and the only pub you can sit outside and see the sea and most of Polperro. Was shocked at the prices when we arrived , the most expensive in the village. £13.85 for a pint of real ale and a 175 ml glass of wine are London prices. We did have a Chicken Caesar salad there one night which was good and all the food looked good but putting the new bar upstairs has meant they have put their prices up a lot.

May 2023

Great food with amazing views from the terraces. Staff very helpful and friendly. Well worth a visit

May 2023

We had a great meal here during our stay.

May 2023

May 2023

Not the best atmosphere but food is good and worth a visit

May 2023

The fish pie is to die for. Lovely friendly pub and staff and totally different g friendly

Beautiful view for a drink in the beer garden.

December 2021

Could perhaps do with a cheaper glass of wine 175 Sauvignon blanc £9 never been charged that. We didn’t ear but food looked lovely staff great.

November 2021

Stayed in Polperro Oct.9th-16th.2021,ate in Three Pilchards three times food excellent, steak and ale pie to die for one portion enough for two,but managed to fight my way through it,would have been rude not to,service also first class.

October 2021

Great food, well priced, really lovely staff but tables are allocated on a first come, first served basis so get there early!

October 2021

Probably the gem of polperro due to the quality of the food and its hidden raised beer garden giving fantastic views over the harbour. Limited indoor seating makes it imperative to turn up early for dinner as they dont take bookings, but operate a 'waiting list' call back service which seems to work well enough. But be warned, myself and my wife turned up at 5:20 pm on a Monday evening and there was already a list with 13 names waiting for a table. However, this is testament to the quality of the food!! A must visit.

September 2021

We had lunch today at this delightful pub in Polperro. We decided to go for a light bite which turned out to be a wise choice , only because the size of the meals on the main menu would have defeated us . Food was very good and excellent value for money . Staff were on the ball at all times . Would definitely return

September 2021

We loved the Pilchards. Everything great about the pub. Great staff, great food, garden over looks the harbour. You don’t need to book, just jog up and if no tables you get added to the waiting list and an idea of how long you’ll wait, so go and sit in the garden and enjoy pre drinkies! What’s not to like!

September 2021

Had a lovely meal in this pub. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food very reasonable. Highly recommend

September 2021

Great pub very helpful staff fantastic fish and chips the best in polperro ten out of ten will always return when in polperro

September 2021

Fantastic food and service. Great outdoor terrace!

August 2021

Excellent service. Friendly helpful staff. Good quality and well portioned food. Chablis by the glass was a real plus!

July 2021

What a bonus to have this pub a stones throw from the cottage. Great welcoming and friendly staff, well run and absolute bonus of a roof top terrace which, as we had wonderful weather, we took great advantage of and the food was superb.

July 2021

August 2020

We visited here for food and drinks and can honestly say were not disappointed on either occassion. The staff were extremely helpful and provided great table service, the food we ordered was delicious! We sat outside on both visits and had lovely views over the harbour which is pretty and quite busy. This pub is certainly worth a visit and we plan to go back on our next visit to Polperro.

February 2020

Nice food, very friendly.

December 2019

Really good service here. All good that came out looked delicious. Our favourite was the very generous fish pie. Kids fish and chips was huge and very tasty. Scallop and prawn combo a little disappointing, not much flavour and they wouldn't let the kids take the scallop shells with them!

August 2018

I thought the service very poor in here. i was the only person sitting at the bar with my partner and with three members of staff available, i waited politely for 5 minutes before asking is anybody serving. The young lad turned round to and responded "I could be" the food was ok

August 2018

Another one of Polperro's gems, great seafood, excellent ale and superb service, thanks to all.

June 2018

Superb food!! Best food we had in polperro.

June 2018

Loved this pub on our first visit and definitely weren’t disappointed second time round. Fantastic food, staff and service we went in everyday, would definitely recommend as a must when visiting Polperro

June 2018

We couldn't leave Polperro without eating at 'The Three Pilchards', whose name alone conjures up the impression of a very old, quaint smuggling pub, (which is exactly what it is). The fact they serve a fantastic fish pie and fresh seafood dishes in a comfortable, friendly environment was a bonus ... but don't expect a dessert - (not that you'd be able to manage one).

May 2018

We highly recommend The Three Pilchards as "The place to eat and drink"...beautifully prepared dishes...the seafood was absolutely delicious. Fish Pie was 5*. The outdoor area was great to sit in and very dog friendly. Staff all so welcoming and hardworking. Fabulous!

May 2018

Disappointed in the Pilchards. Food was expensive and staff a bit off hand. Used to be great but seems to have changed hands.

May 2018

Great people, Great food

May 2018

Lovely food, visited a couple of times over a week... great service, nicely kept ales and lots of effort for local and Cornish drinks including ales, guns and rum... friendly staff... and Jake the dog was great !

May 2018

Really lovely atmosphere in the pub. Staff very nice a friendly and we enjoyed our meal. Would recommend to anybody

April 2018

Great food and lovely people. Nice pub garden looking out over the village.

April 2018

The Three Pilchards is my favourite Cornish pub. In good weather, the roof terrace has lovely views over Polperro and must be recommended. In winter, the log burning fire is a brilliant comforter. The beer and food are excellent. On my most recent visit to Cornwall I had lunch there on two days. On the first day I had game pie with roasted root vegetables including beetroot, carrot and parsnip. The pie was a proper, free standing, shortcrust pie - not a small dish with a puff pastry crust. It was brilliant. On the second visit, I had crab bisque to warm me up followed by crab salad. Polperro is a clear choice for seafood. The owners, staff and pub dog are friendly and welcoming. The pub itself is dog friendly. I don’t think I’d visit the area without calling in at the Three Pilchards at least once.

March 2018

Great pub with amazing food and a warm welcome from all the staff. Definitely worth a visit if you're in polperro

February 2018

Food superb, like the informal atmosphere, and not to far to crawl back to accommodation.

July 2017

June 2017

Fantastic place a little chem of a cottage we have been coming for 19 yrs and will still be coming in another 19 yrs.

June 2017

Great service, great food, well kept beer and great views from the terrace.

June 2017

Lovely bar staff and fabulous beer garden, really nice pub

May 2017

Lovely food, brilliant, welcoming people! Thank you

May 2017

Lovely pub. Excellent service and food. Very friendly staff.

May 2017

No desserts? I understand the comment in the menu but I prefer a main and a dessert. I am afraid there was no where on a Sunday night in March for me to go elsewhere and buy even an ice cream. I may have stayed and spent another £10 at least if I could have had a dessert and a coffee. The food I had was fine.

Polperro Museum
(Less than a mile)

(15)

In The Warren overlooking the harbour, the Polperro Heritage Museum of Smuggling and Fishing houses a collection of exhibits and 19th century photographs that date back to a time when both smuggling and fishing thrived in Polperro.  It brings to life the little village’s beautiful history and the lives of the people who lived there, having depended on fishing for generations and been home to no less than three factories close by at one point.  A delightful opportunity for children and adults alike to learn about local history in this little Cornish village, entry is £1.75 for adults and 50p for children.

September 2019

Great! And dog friendly!Worth a look and the tea rooms were great.

July 2019

I love a bit of local history and if your like minded, you'll enjoy this place. lots of information on the local boats and fishermen. it would take you a while to read it all.

August 2018

Well worth visiting to get a feel and understanding of how the once thriving community of Polperro used to be in former pilchard fishing (and smuggling) days. The old photos and exhibits transport you back to a very different world (though adults will undoubtedly find the museum more interesting than small children).

May 2018

This museum is packed with interesting facts and some great photos, so even though small we spent a good hour there. Definitely worth a visit to learn more on the local history (including about the more recent floods and storms), fishy facts and smuggling tales!

Polperro Model Village
(Less than a mile)

(8)

An utterly charming day out for the family, Polperro Model Village and Land of Legend is two attractions in one.  The village is, quite literally, the coastal town in miniature and has been around for more than 60 years, surviving both fire and floods – so don’t underestimate the strength of these little guys.  Meanwhile, Land of Legend is your chance to explore Cornish folklore, derived from tales of pirates and smugglers who thrived in and around Cornwall from the early modern period through to the 19th century.  It is a unique show of lights, sound and animation.  The site also houses a model railway, and prices are £3 for adults and £2 for children, open daily from Easter to October.

June 2021

Great value for money. Worth a visit.

September 2020

Disappointed not open

July 2020

Good attraction for young children rather than older children and adults. The miniature village and Land of Legend are charming (though perhaps a little 'worn' by modern standards). There is an interesting audio/visual on the Polperro floods of 1976 and 1993 and a separate small model railway.

Polperro Beach
(Less than a mile)

(22)

In South East Cornwall, Polperro is widely thought to be one of the area’s most picturesque fishing villages.  Brimming with whitewashed cottages all the way down the harbour, the beach sits in a sheltered position under the cliffs, only visible at low tide and close to the harbour.  Unsurprisingly, it’s a popular destination and can get busy in the summer months.  Dogs are not permitted at the beach during peak season, from Easter to October, and while parking in the village itself is all but impossible, but there’s a large car park about a mile up the valley with a regular shuttle service going up and down the hill.

Just beautiful??

November 2023

We have visited The Blue Peter many times on our holidays to Polperro over the past 20 year or more. There is always a warm and friendly welcome from the staff. The food is excellent. This is a proper pub.

July 2023

beautiful little cove -- just watch the tide times ..........

August 2022

We didn't really use the beach but I did see someone allow their dog to foul on the beach and, although they cleared it up to a certain extent, I don't think this is really acceptable when children are going to be playing in the sand.

June 2022

Lovely small beach

June 2022

Fabulous

September 2021

Lovely small beach very clean with beautiful views

July 2021

Great beach.

June 2021

Polperro a beautiful place , a lovely fishing village

May 2021

The most beautiful little cove featuring caves to explore and the 'net loft' out on the rugged rocks. The sea is a divine colour and I can't wait to come back and swim at a warmer time of year! I enjoyed two mornings in the sun and the peace of being out there first thing exploring this little beach area, it was a great start to those days!

May 2021

This Is a glorious, quaint fishing village with narrow winding alleys and a beautiful little harbour. It is more suited to couples rather than families as there are not many facilities for children, other than a small beach at low tide.

September 2020

Perfect . Love love love

August 2020

The children enjoyed exploring the caves and beachcombing when the tide was out, too many dogs off the lead but it was out of season. Main reason for leaving the review is to strongly recommend you take the two hour fishing trip with either Chris or Olly Puckey on the Smuggler. We had the boat to ourselves and had an excellent value for money trip which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Caught 3 mackerel and a pollock which we took back to the cottage and cooked for tea. A delight! Oh, and we went for brunch afterwards at House on the Props - definitely recommended, I've never had a full English on a baguette before, it was awesome!

October 2019

Our favourite place to visit with wonderful little shops, restaurants and art galleries to browse in on the walk down to the quay. Amazing views as you leave the village and head on the coastal cliff path back towards Looe. We took our dog and he enjoyed exploring the numerous rock pools on the beach. We also explored the right hand coastal path and stumbled across a secluded pool amongst the rocks - steep ascent but well worth the hike! People were bathing in the pool as it was a real sun trap..

August 2019

Small but lovely

May 2019

Beautiful beach if you love beach combing.

April 2019

Easy access, dog ok

October 2018

We visited Polperro harbour/beach with our springer spaniel and although the write-up says no dogs allowed, they are allowed, just on a lead between 10am and 6pm, although beach is small, the sea is safe to swim in and not full of huge rocks, lovely ????

August 2018

Lovely clean small beach.

May 2018

Polperro is a magic place. It is so pretty with its winding streets and old cottages and the harbour with its fishing boats. The residents are so friendly and welcoming and there’s a wide choice of restaurants and cafes. I particularly recommend Michelle’s for fantastic food and a real welcome. As a woman on my own I dined there, as elsewhere, with no feeling of awkwardness. Breakfast at the House on the Props just unbeatable! Spring is one of the best times to visit for the wonderful coastal walks and the masses of wild flowers. When you visit, think about the parking situation before you go as it needs organising, but many rentable cottages have spaces provided in the main car park and PauI who runs a little motorised transport system for luggage is very helpful and reliable. I am one of the thousands of people who just love Polperro and every time I visit feel a great reluctance to leave.

May 2018

Enjoyed the harbour etc and all the shops but had dogs so did not visit the beach but a beautiful setting.

June 2017

really lovely, a must visit desination.

May 2017

Talland Bay
(Less than a mile)

(16)

A small, quiet beach between Looe and Polperro, Talland Bay actually comprises two beaches, one of which has sand both at low and high tide and is good for swimming all the time, while the other is less sandy and is easiest to swim from at high tide.  There is a ramp for launching boats from the main beach and there are lots of small coves and tidal pools to swim in as well, so it’s a delightful area to explore in the water.  Parking is limited, but there is a small, free car park by the beach and paid parking at The Beach Café, all of which provide easy access to the sand.  Thanks to the nearby café, visitors can also benefit from the accompanying facilities, on-site shop, and tuck into Roskillys Cornish Ice-Cream as well.

Sit in the graveyard on the bill and look down to Talland bay. Tranquillity so special. I never fail to go there when I am down. The church is beautiful so much history.

October 2023

Having spent many a happy childhood holiday here - 60 years ago, so wonderful to return. It is so beautiful and with addition of 2 Beach cafes - even better now.

June 2023

Beautiful little bay with a great cafe overlooking it. Dogs allowed on the beach Oct to end of May.....

October 2021

Although there was indeed sand in one of the bays it was largely covered with seaweed at the water's edge when we were there. All very natural.

October 2021

Lovely bay, shingle beach

September 2021

Not a great beach and a bit smelly.

August 2021

Unfortunately the seaweed on the beach made it very smelly and also lots of flies. Beautiful apart from that!

June 2021

Lovely walk from polperro along coast. Cafe in picturesque bay pretty with little huts to shelter. Only downside was the coffee not good at all.

May 2021

Beautiful bay. A little smelly from the seaweed but rock pools galore and quiet

October 2020

Very interesting beach with rock pools at low tide and fascinating multi-coloured rocks, great for photography.

October 2019

A lovely place to walk too on the way to Looe. Hard work back up the hill to polperro, bit it's worth it!

October 2018

The coastal walk from Polperro to Talland Bay is outstanding. As both are scenic, (and Talland Bay benefits from an excellent cafe and free toilets), it makes for an excellent morning or afternoon trip in good weather.

May 2018

Lovely beach, beautiful walk from Polperro. Dogs requested to be kept on leads (which I suppose is preferable to a ban!). Families seem to use this beach alot.

May 2018

An interesting beach at low tide and lovely views.

April 2018

Brilliant. Bit seaweedy. Wear beach shoes incase of weever fish stings.

August 2017

Great beach pet friendly beach with rock pools etc for the dogs to explore

June 2017

Looe Beach
(4 miles)

(20)

In East Looe, the beach sits directly in front of the old town, sheltered by the Banjo Pier and overlooked from the east by the hillside of Mount Ararat.  A good family beach that has something for everyone, at low tide the sandy location is safe for swimming although it’s recommended you steer clear of the river mouth beyond the pier.  Unfortunately dogs aren’t allowed on this beach at any time of the year, but Hannafore beach in West Looe is dog friendly.  The beach backs on to a seafront walkway which runs its length all the way to Second Beach to the east, where it tends to be less busy and it’s good for snorkeling.  As it’s in the centre of the town there are lots of facilities and cafes nearby, but in the summer it’s a very popular spot and parking can be tricky, with traffic prohibited during these months, so be prepared for a bit of a walk.

Some days quite busy but great facilities and loads of activities

August 2023

Great, despite the early season seaweed, the tractor cleared it very well.

April 2023

LOVE LOVE LOVE

July 2022

All of the beaches around Looe are worth visiting - and the coastal path is a must. Fuel for the hike? Not listed in the reviews is Sarah’s Pasties which has the best pasties (we ate a lot of pasties during the week!). They were also one of the few eateries in the area which could provide something for someone needing a gluten and dairy free diet. We were able to preorder pasties that met her dietary requirements.

February 2022

August 2021

I enjoyed the beach as it is very flat, which is important at 70, and I even had a paddle. The beach was very clean.

May 2018

Looe beach and seafront is cleaned every day (in season?) and looks good. A joy to sit and watch the sea and people passing by.

April 2018

Really good! Good sand and sea. Activities for the kids too. Difficult to get to cos no parking nearby.

August 2017

Lovely beach and even when it was busy didn't feel overcrowded

August 2017

Hannafore Beach
(4 miles)

(9)

Half a mile west of Looe, stretching along the coast, Hannafore Beach is a sandy, shingle bay with a rocky reef and views of St George’s Island.  At low tide it’s brimming with rock pools, making it fun and games for the whole family to enjoy, and it’s a wonderful sun trap in summer months thanks to its south east facing position.  Because of its location over the river, the beach never really becomes too busy, but equally there aren’t any facilities nearby.  It’s popular with dog walkers as it’s amongst the few dog-friendly beaches in the area, and having explored you can extend your excursion to a stroll along the promenade or a potter around the coast path to the wonderfully scenic Talland Bay.  There is roadside parking along the sea front above the beach, but it can be difficult to find a space.  Alternatively, there is a large car park in West Looe, around 10 minutes away on foot.

Plaidy Beach
(4 miles)

(1)

A small and pleasant grey sand beach with rocks exposed at low tide, Plaidy Beach is simply a nice place to visit and take in the scenery.  There aren’t any facilities, and there’s no parking nearby so it’s one to reach on foot.  There’s a slipway to the beach, but you will have to access it by walking along the coast path, parking at Millendreath or Looe and it’s worth keeping in mind that it’s quite steep from both directions.  Millendreath is closer and the walk should take around 20 minutes.  Dogs are allowed on the beach all year round, so it’s a charming place to take them for a walk while you’re in the area.

Great to walk to at low tide on the beach or at high tide via the footpath. Great dog friendly beach.

May 2023

We had the most perfect minimoon. Thank you for the welcome note, bubbly and goodies, that was so lovely to receive on arrival. We loved the location and the property itself was in perfect condition. Absolutely nothing negative to say, we'd happily return (and next time bring our dog!)

February 2023

Loved it!

October 2022

Great location and lovely cottage. Might be worth mentioning in advertising the height restriction whilst descending first flight of stairs as some people would find it a problem . Also could do with adding heating instructions for underfloor to the welcome manual.

Thank you for your useful comments, we will ask the owner if a manual can be added to the welcome folder. We are glad that you enjoyed it otherwise!

July 2018

My niece and I loved staying at The Cobbles in Polperro! It was perfect location and such a sweet cottage! We had a problem with the washer but the staff at Toad Hall Cottages were so friendly and it was taken care of right away. I will be returning (September). I loved the seagulls! And the name of your company is great; It caught my eye on the internet right away. Thank you!

October 2017

We love it here, second time this year cant wait to come back in may :)

October 2017

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Cobbles. What a lovely cottage with fantastic views. The bed was so comfortable that I'm planning on buying one the same and we appreciated the crisp, cotton bed linen. Obviously a lot of care and thought had gone into furnishing the cottage and it showed. The knives were sharp, the oven worked and was very clean. We had no trouble with the wifi and we appreciated being able to have a key each as we like to go off and do our own thing. The bread, milk, butter, dog food etc that was waiting for us on arrival was very welcome after a very long and stressful journey. We found Polperro a very friendly little village with fantastic food at Michelle's Restaurant and The Blue Peter Pub. We even enjoyed the thrill of an unexpected little ride on the back of Paul's quad bike (the luggage taxi). We would certainly stay at the Cobbles again. Thank you to all at Toad Hall and the owners of The Cobbles for making our long awaited 2 week holiday such a pleasure. I wish all holiday cottages were as comfortable.

March 2017

the cottage was lovely and warm but we would have liked a microwave. The office was very good and we found it helpful to be able to pop in when the electric tripped

February 2016

Excellent holiday and super property. We just had one problem, with the WiFi not working, but we would stay at The Cobbles again !!

March 2015

The views from this cottage are breath taking. Everything in the cottage is of a very high standard.

May 2014

A stunning location and wonderful cottage - a fabulous spot from which to explore Cornwall.

May 2014

Stunning setting and house with everything you could need and views from every window!

January 2014

Although fairly expensive The Cobbles was well worth the money being in a wonderful position and in immaculate condition with every thing you could need.

July 2013

The Cobbles was beautifully presented and perfectly situated on the edge of the harbour in Polperro. The fact that many passers by stopped immediately outside the cottage to take photographs of the village confirmed our opinion. A perfect home from home. We spent many hours watching the world go by from the window seats. Highly recommended.
